AbstractThis research will focus on understanding the relationship between the microstructure of Zn-Al-Mg coatings and their mechanical behavior under different loading conditions. The project will employ a multi-scale approach, combining experimental techniques such as mechanical testing, microscopy (SEM, EBSD, and TEM), and advanced characterization methods to capture the microstructural evolution during deformation. Numerical simulations will be used systematically to interpret experimental results at the grain scale using crystal plasticity simulations combined with prediction of damage initiation and propagation. The work will benefit from previous close cooperation between OCAS and Mines Paris, allowing for a comparison of the mechanical properties of several coatings with different chemical compositions.
