AbstractThe aim of this research project is to gain a better understanding of the influence of lead content on the fracture properties of cast austenitic-ferritic stainless steels in the primary cooling circuit. A quantitative microstructural characterization method will be developed to characterize lead in the microstructure and damage with or without lead. A database of mechanical tests will be analyzed and completed. All the results will be capitalized using a local fracture model to predict properties with or without lead.
ProfileTypical profile for a thesis at MINES ParisTech: Engineer and / or Master of Science - Good level of general and scientific culture. Good level of knowledge of French (B2 level in french is required) and English. (B2 level in english is required) Good analytical, synthesis, innovation and communication skills. Qualities of adaptability and creativity. Teaching skills. Motivation for research activity. Coherent professional project.

Prerequisite (specific skills for this thesis):

Good knowlegde of the mechanics of materials – Knowlegde of metalurgy – Python, C++, Fortran programming.
