AbstractTo raise combustion temperatures and improve aero-engine efficiency, the current systems used for high-pressure blades are reaching the end of their useful life. That's why SAFRAN is developing new-generation thermal barrier (BT) systems, including new substrate materials, metal layers and ceramics.
In situ monitoring methods of interface defects created by LASER shock have made it possible for standard BT systems to make an explicit link between microstructure evolution, mechanical state and damage [Guipont, 2019]. The use of new BTs implies repeating this analysis, using a similar method but where microstructure evolutions and their link with damage remain to be discovered. The aim of this thesis is to propose a characterization and modeling of the scaling life of these new BT systems based on the LAser Shock for DAMage monitoring (LASDAM) and LAser Shock Adhesion Test (LASAT) methods [Mahfouz, 2022].

The thesis will be carried out in three main mutually enriching stages:
- experimental characterization of the strength of BTs, based in particular on the LASDAM test combined with the LASAT test
- behavioral modeling of the multilayer system, based on experimental observations and taking into account the evolution of the microstructure
- macroscopic modeling of the spalling life of BTs, inherited from previous work and adapted to new BTs
ProfileEngineer and / or Master of Science - Good level of general and scientific culture. Good level of knowledge of French (B2 level in french is required) and English.
